January & February

Meeting #1

Date: 10 January 2019

Time: 3:55 pm (in class)

Members Present: All

Objectives:

During Lab 1 we created the website and setup the arduino software and tested some coding. David and Nathan worked on setting up the arduino software and wrote some code. Ella and Zach created the website and shared the website with everyone in our company.

Upcoming Tasks:

Our next meeting will be during lab 2. As a team we have many tasks. We will construct a sample AEV design which will serve as a baseline for future design consideration, become familiar with external software components and become familiar with function calls and AEV control.  All members will become familiar with the software and the AEV. Ella, Zach, and David will work on the AEV design. Nathan will be most familiar with function calls and coding.

Meeting #2

Date: 17 January 2019

Time: 3:55 pm (in class)

Members Present: All

Objectives:

Objectives for this week’s lab include constructing the basic AEV and running Arduino code to make sure that the reflectance sensors work properly, as the reflectance sensors are key to measuring the distance travelled by the AEV.

Upcoming Tasks:

We were not able to complete the reflectance sensor test; furthermore, we are still not very clear on the general objectives of the project.

Meeting #3

Date: 31 January 2019

Time: 3:55 pm (in class)

Members Present: All

Objectives:

Today’s primary objective was to test out the Data Extraction tool on the AEV and create multiple plots of the data received by the Extraction tool.

Upcoming Tasks:

We were only able to complete a portion of the experiment, and we did not have enough time to obtain the data plots.  We are growing increasingly frustrated about the lack of clarity and instructions for our various assignments.

Meeting #4

Date: 7 February 2019

Time: 3:55 pm (in class)

Members Present: All

Objectives:

Our objectives for today’s lab were to finish the Data Extraction tool lab as well as analyze our individual AEV design and begin to draw up a final design for our AEV.

Upcoming Tasks:

We were not really able to get to the design portion of today’s lab, so we will need to do that in our free time at some point.  We have a progress report due in a week that will summarize our previous experiments as well as our design decisions.

Meeting #5

Date: 11 February 2019

Time: 3:30 pm (the end of regular class section)

Members Present: All

Objectives:

During today’s meeting, we decided to divide up our upcoming work in order to enable us to complete it as soon as possible without having to meet outside of class.  We also had a discussion and came to a consensus on our team AEV design, which we drew up during this meeting.

Upcoming Tasks:

By our next meeting, our goal is to have much of the progress report completed as well as Lab 5 (screening and scoring matrices). Zach will be completing Lab 5, and each group member will have their own section of the first progress report to complete.

Meeting #6

Date: 12 February 2019

Time: 6:00 pm

Members Present: Ella, David, Zach

Objectives:

During today’s meeting, we continued work on our first progress report and finished creating our grant proposal slide.

Upcoming Tasks:

The progress will receive some minor final revisions over the next couple of days leading up to its due date.  Additionally, tomorrow we will create a script for our grant proposal.

Meeting #7

Date: 21 February 2019

Time: 3:55 pm (in class)

Members Present: All

Objectives:

Today we attended committee meetings and received advice and new information on various aspects of our project completion.  We also chose our research topics for Advanced R&D.

Upcoming Tasks:

Completing Advanced R&D, as well as constructing and finalizing our AEV design, will be the focus for the next couple of labs.

Meeting #8

Date: 28 February 2019

Time: 3:55 pm (in class)

Members Present: All

Objectives:

Our objectives for today’s lab were to finish constructing an AEV and begin to complete Advanced R&D.

Upcoming Tasks:

Today we mostly just wrote and designed our methodologies for Advanced R&D.  For our next in-class meeting, we will begin aR&D testing.  We will also conduct a meeting out of class in order to finalize the design of our AEV.
