Braking Mechanics Data

Three different types of braking mechanics were tested in order to determine which method was the most consistent and efficient. The tested methods were coasting to a stop, reversing motors, and use of the Servo.

Analysis

From looking at the graphs, it was determined that allowing the AEV coast to a stop used the most power. Because of the fact that it was the least efficient, it was ruled out as an option for the final design and testing code. Comparison of the power vs time graphs for reverse motors and Servo use showed the Servo was the most efficient braking mechanic. Both methods used a consistent amount of power for the first three seconds. The reserve motors method then decreases power usage for the next three seconds when the motors reversed. The Servo use drops to zero power usage after the first three seconds. Both methods were very reliable for stopping distance, so the tea, decided the Servo use was the best braking mechanic to use because it is the most efficient.
