Mission

With the Rebel Alliance looking to strengthen their army during the reconstruction of the Empire, the team was assigned the task of building an energy efficient vehicle that would serve to transport R2D2 droids on remote planets and out of view from the Empire’s forces. This Advance Energy Vehicle (AEV) was built to pick up and deliver the R2D2 caboose on the monorail system with consistency and efficiency. Throughout the design process of the AEV, several tests were performed and analyzed to determine the best means of transporting the droid as well as the design that would best fit the objective criteria.

The team was provided with a series of set matierials including an Arduino Control Board, battery, wheels, different structural pieces, etc. After brainstorming different ideas, the team came to a concensus of the general characteristics of the vehicle that would serve as top priorities. These two factors were a light-weight and aerodynamic design. Throughout the course of building and testing, the model was adjusted and reformed to optimize the vehicles ability to perform the task while using the least amount of energy.
