Students taking ENGR 1182 have been tasked with building an autonomous electrical vehicle that uses as little energy as possible. This vehicle will need to operate as quickly and as efficiently as possible while using the least possible amount of energy. The task at hand is for the vehicle to make its way to the gate, pause for 7 seconds until the gate opens, continue to the end of the track to retrieve the cargo, bring the cargo back to the gate until it opens again, and then return to its starting position. Using a variety of functions via the vehicle’s Arduino microcontroller, the team aims to find the most energy efficient and consistent way possible to accomplish this task.
