System Analysis 2 allowed the team to quantify the AEV’s performance through data collection. After the AEV completed a run on the track, the data was downloaded into MATLAB and into an excel file. The results were then graphed in order to determine the AEV’s energy efficiency based on time and distance. The team also made a breakdown of the code to analyze each portion of the code and its power output individually. After analyzing which commands and motor speeds used the most power, the team used the results to continue to work on creating the most energy efficient code. It was concluded that the “reverse” command utilized the most amount of energy, and the team was able to eliminate that command in future codes due to the knowledge gained during Lab 06.
