Performance Test 3

The purpose of this lab will be to improve energy efficiency in overall operational characteristics of the AEV. The data that is collected during the vehicle’s runs will be inserted into the Matlab Analysis Tool to produce figures which will be interpreted. This will help determine the physical design and code that will be continued to complete the Jurassic Park Project.

The objectives of this lab will be to improve energy usage of the AEV. This objective will be attained by changing one aspect of the vehicle at a time and then running the Analysis Tool to produce figures to determine efficiency. The energy will be determined and compared for all variations of the AEV. Once an improvement is noticed in the vehicles efficiency, the change will be made permanent on the final vehicle.

The first task that will be completed is to get a baseline to compare all data to. This will be done by running the current design with the current code on the track and collecting the data. The data will then be transformed into figures which will be compared to the future figures to look for improvement in energy use and propulsion efficiency. After this is completed, the next task will be to change one aspect of the AEV and run it on the track and obtain data on the variation. The data will be collected and put in the design analysis tool and compared to the baseline to determine if there was an improvement on efficiency. Changing one aspect at a time will be repeated until maximum efficiency has been achieved.

It is recommended that the final design and code that will be used in the Jurassic Park project be as efficient as possible. This will be determined by changing code and design features one at a time and evaluating the energy consumed compared to the baseline AEV. It is important to make the Advanced Energy Vehicle as efficient as possible to minimize energy usage. The design and code that is chosen will be continuously tested throughout the remaining labs.
