My name is Ben Kirby. I am a freshman at The Ohio State University. I am currently enrolled in English 1110.01 because it is a required course for my major. I also enjoy the opportunity to further my knowledge in my writing skills. I am from the south suburbs of Chicago and came to OSU to pursue a degree in Marketing. I have been learning about Christopher Columbus since I first enrolled in Kindergarten. However, the way he has been portrayed to me has changed over the years. As a kid he was portrayed as a hero and the founder of America. As I have gotten older I have realized that that may not be the case. I have done research and have realized that Columbus was a brave explorer who did what not many other people would’ve done. However, he also brought with him much death and destruction.
