Welcome, or as we say in Twi, akwaaba! This is the official site for Ohio State’s Engineering Service-Learning’s Ghana Program. This program includes both an academic course during the autumn semester and a trip to Ghana during winter break.

During the academic course, we learn about strategies for sustainable development and collaborate with our in-country partner, the Offinso North District Assembly, to identify the critical needs of the community and develop sustainable solutions.

In Ghana, we’ll spend most of our time working on our projects in the village of Akumadan, but we’ll also spend some time in the capital city of Accra, Techiman, and the historically-rich city of Cape Coast.

Here, you can learn about who’s in our class, what our goals are, and the projects we’ve developed and implemented in Ghana.

If you’d like to learn more about Ghana, you can do that here too! We’ve studied Ghana’s history and learned some Twi, one of the major languages in Ghana. Also, we had the opportunity to speak with some of the native Ghanaians that we met during our trip and record their personal stories.
