Semester in Review

This semester has been a rough semester for me. Between COVID and the new experience that comes with my first year in college, it has been a very odd and stressful experience. I have done my best to maintain my grades, but I have still managed to see a drop in my usual grades as it has been very hard for me to learn online the same way that I would in person. Despite all of this I have made huge improvements upon myself like working out more and finding friends online that I know I can trust to be there for me. This semester has for sure not been what i expected it to be, but I know that things can only go up from here.

G.O.A.L.S

The Honors and Scholars program has G.O.A.L.S which are five categories that their students are expected to show within themselves and their lives.

G-Global Awareness: This is an appreciation for diversity within our communities and resect for all those that live within them. I have worked in this area by guiding other students around me and offering a helping to all those who need or want one.

O-Original Inquiry: This category is about students engaging in their own curiosity around campus through research and other opportunities. While I have yet to do much with this category, the most that I have done is explored within my own major, searching for what I wish to specialize in when i become a veterinarian through taking all experiences I can.

A-Academic Enrichment: This category is shown through academic excellence. I have shown this in High School by having an almost 4.0 GPA and by also constantly trying my hardest in my college courses here at The Ohio State University.

L-Leadership Development: This category is shown through students standing up to lead themselves an others through life and to success. While I may not have had a chance to show this just yet at OSU, I have shown this in high school through being the president of our schools marching band and leading us through one of our best years yet.

S-Service Engagement: This category shows the students willingness to put themselves aside and to participate in their communities for the greater good. in high school I have shown this through helping students with their eagle scouts projects and by volunteering at the local animal shelter. I have also shown this at OSU by volunteering at a Heart clinic set up in Marysville this year.

Companion Care Animal Hospital

I am currently employed at a veterinarian back home, here I send my time assisting the veterinarians and the techs and keeping everything clean. Working here allows me to freely express myself and further my education within veterinary sciences, even if it is only the basics. This has been an amazing opportunity as it was purely chance that got me into this hospital as I was shadowing at the time when they had a position open, and since then I have loved working here and am very excited to go back to work during breaks.

About Me

I am a freshmen at the Ohio State university who is majoring in Animals Sciences with a Biosciences specialization. It is my goal to eventually make my way into the OSU Vet school and practice either orthopedics or mix-animal practice. I love playing video games in my free time with my friends online, and I believe that it is a great way to de-stress.

An Important Artifact

I have always loved animals and have loved the impact they make in people’s lives, including my own. One of the things that I have missed while away from home is my dog Luna, who has been a huge change in my life, helping me get through some of the tougher times in the recent years. Luna has been one of my biggest inspirations in what I do and has been a great way for me to destress and sometimes practice what I learned at the vet hospital. She has been a huge change in my life and has helped turn me into the person I am today.
