Video Production

Project Statement

Throughout high school I was a part of an organization called Ladue Dance Marathon. This organization spreads awareness of the Children’s Miracle Network mission – to increase funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals of Greater St. Louis and other Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. One role that I held as a Ladue Dance Marathon board member was “lead of technology.” In this role, it was my responsibility to create digital media that encouraged people to join and/or donate to the organization. By blending my creativity with design and video production, I created the video you see above. Creating videos is like putting a puzzle together for me. All the pieces have to fit perfectly to make the story I have in my mind come to life. Dance Marathon is one of the many things that gave me an opportunity to not only get the story out of my head and express my voice, but to also be the voice for other kids.

Reflection

I enjoyed making this video not only for the chance to put smiles on children’s faces, but because I was also able to combine it with my love for telling a story. Growing up it was hard for me to take what I had in my head and express it in a way that really captured the emotion of what I was feeling or wanted to share. I have come to discover that it is easier for me to transform the meaning of something into an experience through design, be it video, or painting, or photography, or whatever medium I am able to use to create and share.
