Perspective

Project Statement

In this 200 square foot space I used 1 point perspective techniques to transform my 2D composition into simple and complex 3D forms. My main goal throughout this project was to create a space that would best reflect my personality. I get distracted very easily so I tend to work best when I am in a room that is open and free of distractions. With that concept in mind, I made the room simple and clean while adding little details throughout the space. For example, adding wood texture to the floor gives the room more of a natural look. As for the staircase, it gives the room depth and visual interest.

Reflection

This project introduced me to techniques like linear perspective drawing, triangulation, contouring, and a few others that I was unfamiliar with. I was struggling to transform my 2D forms into 3D forms using 1-point perspective. The closer the volumetric forms got to the vanishing point, the more confusing it was for me to visualize. I also had a hard time understanding when the contours of the shape should be thicker or thinner based on where they lay on the page. However after combining the new techniques I learned with ones that I was already familiar with, I created a new base for my design skills. I enjoyed reflecting my personality with my designs to create a composition I am satisfied with.
