Zeynep Arslan, PhD student and EL3 member, will be presenting her research at the College of Education and Human Ecology Research Forum later this month! Her case study examines the perspectives of key participants on an institutional classroom observation system implemented in an English language preparatory program at a foundation university in Ankara, Türkiye. The study focuses on how stakeholders perceive the system’s impact on the professional development of English as a foreign language teachers, particularly in terms of teaching quality and teacher reflectivity. Dr. Shen receives George Herbert Ryden Prize

Congratulations to Dr. Ye Shen, Dean’s Diversity Postdoctoral Fellow and member of the EL3, for earning the George Herbert Ryden Prize in the Social Sciences! This prize was awarded to Dr. Shen for her dissertation entitled “Bilingual but not biliterate, the literacy of heritage language learners” in which she investigated the effects of non-English familial heritage languages on the language and literacy development of heritage language learners in the United States.
