Artifacts

This is Debbie. She was gift from 3rd grade teacher at the end of the year. She is significant to me because she reminds that I don’t have to rush to grow up. Although, I have now enter college and starting to adjust to the adult life style. There are still many lessons I need learn and plentiful of stupid things I will do over the course of the next 4 years. She reminds me that I have a life outside of school and work and that it okay to not be serious all the time and enjoy things that are made for younger audiences. Although she can no longer play music or squeak, she can remind me that there were good times and there are many more to come.

Artifacts

This picture is one of the many remainders that I had the luxury to travel outside of the US. Although, it is a simple piece of artwork it captures the ideas of simplicity and craftsmanship. The picture is three of the many animals known to be living in Africa. They stand next to each other as a community, even though they are different from each other, looking at the viewer and all I can think of is the deforestation and loss they have suffered. It reminds that there are other people and living creatures that could use help. The zebra and its baby remind me of family and how they will always be there for you to protect and help you out.  This trip was one of the first time I wasn’t under the watch of my parents and had to make decision on my own.  I learned the about a unique culture and was able to experience new things that I wouldn’t have gotten in the US like seeing lions in the wild and trying exotic foods. This purchase taught me the lesson that sometime you lose out in life and that it is okay, as other vendors tried to sell me a better deal.

About Me

Hello, my name is Owen Ekechi. I am from Parma, Ohio (Cleveland). I plan on majoring in electrical and computer engineering, but still might change. I am a member of the Morrill scholars program and the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars. I play both soccer and tennis. I have had the luxury to travel outside of the United States to both Nairobi, Kenya and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In Kenya, we went on a safari trip and was able to capture a picture of lions. I am excited for what Covid college has to bring and look forward to meeting you all.
