Frequently Asked Questions

Do teams still need to post their ideas even though they have an intact interdisciplinary team?

Yes. It is required that all teams post their ideas. Providing a platform for student-to-student research connection and collaboration is a central aim of the GSIRI concept, and consequently we will not consider proposals that do not participate in this step of the GSIRI process.

Is there a limit on how many graduate students can be part of a research team?

No. There is no limit to the number of graduate students that can be part of a team. However, you should clearly define the roles of each member of the research team and describe their expected contributions to the research project in your proposal.

Can graduate students outside of EHE join a research team?

No. All graduate students should be affiliated with the College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE).

Can research teams have faculty mentor/PI outside of EHE?

How many proposals will be awarded?

There is no limit to the number of proposals to be awarded. A total of $10,000 in awards will be available and this amount will be distributed among selected proposals.

Do we need to get IRB approval before submitting our proposal?

No. IRB approval is not a requirement for proposal submission. However, if you are going to do research on human subjects, you should get IRB approval before starting your research. Therefore, the best practice would be to prepare your proposal and start the IRB submission process simultaneously.
