Information for Faculty

Eligibility:

Faculty mentors can be any faculty member with an active research agenda who commits to working with the student for at least one semester during the 2024-2025 academic year.

Matching Process:

Faculty are asked to complete an online questionnaire for each research opportunity describing: 1) the research project, 2) students’ tasks and responsibilities, 3) number of students requested, 4) semester(s), and 5) research methods (e.g., experimental, quantitative, qualitative or mixed-methods, etc.).

Research opportunities will be posted on the DURI webpage within three days of filling out the questionnaire. Students will be directed to the page to identify a faculty mentor who matches their interests. The student will contact the faculty member to set up an interview. Students will sign-up for 1-3 undergraduate research credits under their faculty mentor, committing to 3-9 hours/week.

Staff from the Office of Research, Innovation, and Collaboration will follow-up with students and faculty to ensure connections are made. While a faculty match cannot be guaranteed to all interested students, every effort will be made to obtain a match.

Incentives:

Research sponsors will receive $250 per student for Autumn 2024 to cover student and faculty research related expenses. Reach out to Matt Eveland when connections are made to make sure that funding is transferred into your account.
