University Innovation Alliance Fellow for University of Central Florida Announcement

The University of Central Florida is currently searching for their next University Innovation Alliance Fellow.


The Office of the President at the University of Central Florida seeks an early-career professional to fill the position of University Innovation Alliance Fellow in support of the university’s Alliance-related student success projects. The fellow may engage in policy and higher education research, program assessment and analysis, memo and proposal writing, and UIA meetings and committees. The goal of the UIA fellowship program is to seed the future of higher education with leaders who have a passion for transformation and student success.


The University Innovation Alliance is a national consortium of eleven large public research universities working together to improve outcomes for all students, regardless of their socioeconomic status. These universities collaborate to facilitate and test new initiatives, share data, and scale best practices.



The University Innovation Alliance Fellowship is a full-time, paid 12-month university leadership development program, renewable for up to three years, that places top-tier early-career professionals with Alliance member institutions. Fellows engage in critical work to support member institutions to identify new solutions, scale proven innovations, and communicate and diffuse outcomes – ultimately helping more students have access to and graduate with a high quality, affordable bachelor’s degree. The Fellowship provides a collaborative, fast-paced, and challenging experience coupled with training in cutting edge transferable skills, such as Design Thinking, and pressing issues in higher education. As a Fellow, you will gain the unique networking opportunities of some of the most innovative public institutions nationwide to support your launch into a high-level university leadership career.


Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the communication and dissemination of ideas on campus and throughout the UIA network.
  • Providing reports to the UIA and donor foundations.
  • Developing new methods to increase student access and success.
  • Identifying scalable projects from among UCF advising interventions.
  • Enlisting the cooperation of faculty and staff members.
  • Collecting and interpreting data to be shared with UCF administrators, predictive analytics teams, UIA members.
  • Representing UCF at UIA meetings.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.

Postdoctoral fellowship opportunity from the Center for Research on Race and Ethnicity in Society at Indiana University

Indiana University, Bloomington is pleased to accept applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship for scholars studying race and ethnicity from a broad range of social science and humanities fields, including (but not limited to) African American Studies, American Studies, Asian American Studies, Anthropology, Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies, Economics, Gender Studies, Geography, History, Media and Communications, Native American Studies, Latino Studies, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. This fellowship is designed to nurture the academic careers of new scholars by providing opportunities to pursue research while gaining mentoring from CRRES affiliates and faculty in host departments. Presentation from Versatile PhD on 10/4

Paula Chambers, founder and CEO of the Versatile PhD, will present two interactive workshops on October 4, both focused on alternative careers for PhDs.

For Graduate Students

Dr. Chambers’s “From Skills to Results: Describing Your PhD Skills to Non-Academic Employers” will describe her own bumpy journey from graduate student to grant writer to business owner. She’ll talk about the current academic job market and demystify how to identify and articulate transferable skills. In the work shop graduate students will:

  • Learn where the PhD career pipeline really goes
  • Take inventory of the skills they’ve used in graduate school
  • Identify concrete results they’ve achieved with those skills
  • Learn how to describe those results in non-academic language
  • Discover new career resources at Ohio State

The Ohio Education Research Center (OERC) & Ohio Longitudinal Data Archive (OLDA) at The Ohio State University within The John Glenn College of Public Affairs and the Center for Human Resource Research in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Director of Operations to provide a broad range of outreach & engagement, research and operations administration.

The OERC & OLDA Operations Director oversees the day to day services, functions, and employees of the centers, with a particular focus on external operations. This position serves as the principal agent in charge of maintaining and growing relationships. The OERC & OLDA Operations Director is expected to oversee the centers’ relationships with funding entities such as the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services or the Ohio Department of Education and manage these relationships with state and local government by working closely with communications and research officers that hold our contracts. This position oversees center communications, guides and facilitates the processes to negotiate terms and conditions as well as scopes of work for projects with state and federal authorities (in collaboration with Office of Legal Affairs and Office of Sponsored Programs), and serves on several critical governance committees that are staffed by state and university staff/faculty. She or he also provides presentations at and acts as a representative of the OLDA and OERC at federal, state and local meetings. This position is also responsible for writing and submitting grant proposals and generating grant reports for awarded projects and contracts.

This position will be located in The John Glenn College of Public Affairs in Page Hall on OSU’s main campus. This person will report to the OERC & OLDA Director and have regular working hours of Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-5:00pm. Working hours may be adjusted during times of high activity in the centers and/or for special events. Some travel to research sites within the state of Ohio will be required. This position is grant funded and contingent upon continued funding availability.
