Autumn 2024 Upcoming Important Dates

Aug. 30:
- Last day to drop a course using online registration and without receiving a “W” on record | 7-week Session 1
- Last Day of 50% Refund Period | 7-week Session 1
- Last Day of 75% Refund Period | Autumn Full Term
- Last day to add a course without a petition | Autumn Full Term, 7-week Session 1
Aug. 31:
- Late Registration Fee ($500) and Late Course Add Fee ($100 per course added) Assessed | Autumn Full Term, 7-week Session 1
Sep. 02:
- Labor Day – no classes, offices closed
Sep. 06:
- Autumn 2024 Graduation Applications Due
- Late Payment Fee Increases – $300 total | Autumn Term/Sessions
Sep. 13:
- Last day to drop a course using online registration and without receiving a “W” on record | Autumn Full Term

Autumn 2024 Graduation Applications Due September 6

If you are planning to graduate in Autumn 2024, now is the time to apply for graduation. All applications for graduation are due by Friday, September 6 in GRADFORMS. You can see the full graduation calendar as well as the final semester procedures and timelines for more information.
If you have questions about this process, be sure to attend the Final Semester: Your Guide to Graduate Workshop. Designed for students who are in their final semester of their academic program. This workshop will explain the process and procedures for entering this exciting time! Both workshops will be held virtually and will take place on September 5 at 3 p.m. and September 24 at 1:30 p.m.

2024 Alumni Grants for Graduate Research and Scholarship are Open

2024 Alumni Grants for Graduate Research and Scholarship (AGGRS) are now open in GradAwards under current student competitions and will close on September 25, 2024, at 5 p.m.

Post-candidacy doctoral or terminal research degree candidates are eligible to apply. A terminal research degree program is defined as a degree program that:

Requires a minimum of 60 graduate credit hours, and
Is designed to take three or more years to complete, and
Produces original research or scholarly work that culminates in a dissertation or dissertation-level work

Final application materials must be submitted as one single combined PDF document. The final application packet can be emailed directly to grad-schoolfellowships@osu.edu by September 25, 2024, at 5 p.m. Any submission received after the deadline or containing multiple files will not be considered.

Presidential Fellowship Nominations Open August 28, 2024

The Presidential Fellowship is the most prestigious award given by the Graduate School. Recipients of this award embody the highest standards of scholarship in the full range of Ohio State’s graduate programs. Nominations for the Presidential Fellowship will open on August 28, students must submit their nomination packet to ehe-es-gsc-chair@osu.edu by Wednesday, October 9. Presidential Fellowship and AGGRS Information Session

Join this virtual event at 10:30a.m. on September 3 to learn more information about how to apply for the 2024 Presidential Fellowship or Alumni Grants for Graduate Research and Scholarship (AGGRS). Staff and faculty will go over deadlines, application materials, and questions about what makes for a strong application packet. If you have questions about the Presidential Fellowship or AGGRS, we strongly recommend you attend this event as scheduled to get your questions answered. However, if you are unable to attend the event, a recording will be available on this website after September 3, 2024.

ACES Food Pantry Information

The ACES Scholars program and the college collaborate to provide a food pantry for Ohio State students. Items can be purchased online or donated to 110 Arps Hall or 100 PAES Building. Some items that are always needed and appreciated are: fruit snacks, noodles, canned fish and meat, shelf-stable milk, peanut butter, rice, and other non-perishables.

Research Forum: Does School-Based Pre-K Hold Promise?

As the child care crisis continues across the country, some are looking at whether school-based pre-kindergarten (SBPK) can help mitigate risk and stabilize early education. SBPK are formal pre-K programs that are situated within elementary schools, as opposed to stand-alone early education centers. Join the Crane Center for a free, one-hour research forum on Wednesday, Sept. 4 as Drs. Cohen-Vogel, Gottfried, and Little discuss which communities offer SBPK, who has access, how these options are unique, and research on their relative efficacy.

Statewide Action Forum Focused on Accelerated Learning for All Students

Held on September 12 at the Conference Center at OCLC, this free event is open to faculty, staff and students. Join this event to learn and understand the research supporting the use of explicit, systematic instruction; understand the research supporting the use of high-dosage tutoring, high-quality instructional materials, and high-quality after-school programming; learn about spotlight districts from The Writing Revolution; learn about the new Ohio Implementation Support Guide from the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce, and so much more.

If you worry about keeping up or just are not sure what to write down at all, this workshop is for you! Being an engaged listener and taking effective notes is not always easy. In this workshop from the Dennis Learning Center, you will lern strategies for recognizing important information, how to organize your notes, and tips for being more efficient. This workshop can help you build your speed and skill to have A+ notes!
