Welcome to Ohio State/Wilberforce University’s EcoCAR Team Website

Since 1988, the U.S. Department of Energy has sponsored Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions (AVTCs) to explore sustainable vehicle solutions and develop the next generation of automotive engineers. Over this 34-year span, 95 North American Universities and over 30,000 students have taken part in designing and building a wide range of advanced vehicles. In the 2022-2026 EcoCAR EV Challenge competition, 13 teams will re-engineer a Cadillac LYRIQ to deploy connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) features and implement energy-efficient and customer-pleasing features, while meeting the decarbonization needs of the automotive industry.

The Ohio State University (OSU) has been a part of the Advanced Vehicle Competition Series for over 32 years with involvement in the Natural Gas Vehicle Challenge, FutureCar Challenge, FutureTruck, ChallengeX, EcoCAR, EcoCAR 2, EcoCAR 3, and EcoCAR Mobility Challenge. Over the years, OSU has developed a strong system of dedicated students leading to a history of success in the AVTC program with OSU AVTC teams finishing in the top 3 for 13 of the past 14 competition years.

This website entails the competition’s history and OSU’s successes, information about our team members, and pages showcasing our sponsors and their ongoing support.
