In the Andes, llama dung is collected and used to cook food. The llama dung is put in a native oven or fogon and the food is cooked on top, like the picture above. (McIntyre,1987) Because of the poor soil quality of the highlands, llama dung and other types of dung have been and are still used for fertilizer to grow food. Potatoes are a crop that llama dung is used to grow. (Winterhalder,1974)
