Mark your calendar now for  Friday, March 24, 2017 for the Fourth Annual East Ohio Women in Agriculture Conference. This year’s conference location will again be the R.G. Drage Career Technical Center in Massillon, OH. Program tracks will include plants & animals, finance & business, home & family, communication, and special interest. There will also be one youth session. This year’s program will feature 4 breakout sessions throughout the day. And we are pleased that Marlene Eick from Herdmark Media will be our keynote speaker! East OH Women in Ag Program – 2015

Driving Directions can be found below.

This year’s conference will take place in Founders Hall. Please park in Parking Lot B or Parking Lot C. There will be red signs to direct you for parking and for entrance into the building. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. along with breakfast and the Network Fair.

Driving Directions:

From the North, take I-77 South to the State Route 250 bypass at Uhrichsville/New Philadelphia. Follow State Route 250 SE toward Uhrichsville. Get off at the Schoenbrunn Exit, turn right, drive 1.1 miles toward New Philadelphia; turn right on University Drive NE (Just past the Timken Company).

From the South, take I-77 North. Exit at the New Philadelphia Exit. Turn right at the exit and proceed 4 miles (through downtown) to University Drive NE; turn left onto University Drive. –  OR – when you exit at the New Philadelphia Exit; turn left onto W. High Ave; go under I-77; at the light turn left onto the I-77 South and State Route 250 Southeast on-ramp, then bear to the left for State Route 250 Southeast. Proceed as directed above on State Route 250 Southeast.

From the East, use State Route 250 West; exit at the Schoenbrunn Exit.

Past Event – 2015 East Ohio Women in Agriculture Conference

The second annual East Ohio Women in Agriculture Conference will be March 27, 2015 at the Kent State University Tuscarawas Branch in New Philadelphia. Last year over 70 women from 23 Ohio counties and Pennsylvania attended.  This year’s program will feature 12 break-out sessions related to: Business & Finance, Production- Made/Grown, Entrepreneurial, and Family & Community. Keynote speaker will be agricultural attorney, Kristi Wilhemy. There is also a youth track with sessions presented by Ohio FFA Association state officers.

The 2012 Census of Agriculture indicates that 28% of farmers in Ohio (32,237 of 115,743 operators) are female. Women farm operators play a vital role in east central Ohio agriculture. Of the nineteen Ohio counties with over 500 women operators, ten are located in eastern Ohio including Ashtabula, Columbiana, Coshocton, Guernsey, Holmes, Medina, Muskingum, Stark, Washington and Wayne counties. Wayne County is largest in the state with over 800 women farm operators.
