Year in Review

This year I saw more growth than any other period of my life. Primarily, I learned a lot about self-sufficiency and how to make decisions and to handle situations on my own. I also saw a lot of growth within the classroom; I bettered my study skills and took classes I learned I really enjoyed, such as chemistry. I had so many great opportunities come my way and tried to take advantage of as much as I could. I worked to establish a good balance between school work and studying in addition to having fun and relieving stress. I worked really hard to maintain satisfactory grades while creating lasting friendships and memories. As a whole, my freshmen year was very successful and one I will truly hold close to my heart.

Artifacts

[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements. For each entry, include both an artifact and a detailed annotation.  An annotation includes both a description of the artifact and a reflection on why it is important to you, what you learned, and what it means for your next steps.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. About Me

Hello! My name is Sarah Durisek, and I am from Avon Lake, Ohio. I am a first-year student at The Ohio State University majoring in Health Sciences on a pre-medicine career path. I am a part of the Health Sciences Scholars Program where I hope to be presented with amazing opportunities, to gain useful information for my present and future endeavors, in addition to build a strong network for later success. At The Ohio State University I volunteer at the Wexner Medical Center with the intention of gaining exposure to the medical field. Throughout high school I was very involved with the special education department along with multiple other academic and social clubs. I also love to read and spending time with family and friends whenever time allows.

I place very high importance on my education and the power of learning new and diverse information. I love to learn unfamiliar things; therefore, I can’t wait to see where four years of schooling takes me. I plan to attend medical school to eventually work in some form of pediatric medicine. I want to contribute to society and the lives of those I come into contact with. To reach my future goals I intend to get involved in different clubs, events, and research opportunities to gain exposure to my desired field. I am committed to working hard in all I do in order to accomplish all my present and future aspirations.
