I began working in customer service at the age of 17. My first job was as a Floor Model for Hollister & Co. in Boardman, Ohio. As a Floor Model, I was in charge of ensuring that the store maintained a desirable appearance. Additionally, I was expected to know where specific items were located in the store so that I could lead customers to the correct article of clothing in a timely manner. Moreover, I answered phones and worked the cash register. From this job, I learned how to process multiple requests simultaneously in a relaxed, but timely, manner.
After I moved to Columbus to attend The Ohio State University, I was hired at the Jerome Schottenstein Center as a Student Team Member. This job includes answering questions over-the-phone and maintaining office supplies. I am tasked with knowing a plethora of information about upcoming events so that I answer questions concisely and clearly. I have learned the importance of staying ahead of my work and being informed on minute details of subjects because people do ask those questions.
Most recently, I accepted a position as a Peer Mentor for the Honors College. This means that I will be helping freshmen in their survey classes navigate social and student life their first year. It is my job to make sure their adjustment to college life is as easy as possible!
Besides work experience, my classes have endowed many useful skills upon me. I am experienced in Microsoft Excel and Access. My communication classes have also helped me learn how to write clearly, precisely, and purposefully.
