I have been involved with research while at the Ohio State University. From May 2018-present I work for the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service. Here I have gained skills in laboratory as well as field settings. I have collected edge of field samples, performed oxidations, filtered samples, carried out TSS analysis, taken turbidity readings, and prepared lab equipment.
During my second year at OSU, I was involved with STEP. While in STEP, I developed a project with the help of faculty members. I designed a trip where I traveled from Seattle to San Francisco, stopping at several National Parks along the way, and spoke to park rangers and naturalists about environmental issues in the different areas. After the trip, I presented field notes, transformations, and findings in a final reflective report and at the STEP Expo in Nov 2018.
The experiences I have had while being a student at Ohio State have allowed me to become more organized, independent, and creative. I have gained skills that will help me in my future career, and have given me inspiration as to what kind of career I would like to pursue.
