Principal Investigator
Bradley E. Dougherty, OD, PhD: Bradley received his OD and PhD degrees from The Ohio State University. His clinical interest is in low vision rehabilitation. His research interests include evaluating low vision rehabilitation strategies, driving with visual impairment, patient reported outcomes, and visual assessment in low vision. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a past recipient of the American Optometric Foundation William C. Ezell Fellowship. His research has been supported by the National Eye Institute, Research to Prevent Blindness, and the Ohio Lions Eye Research Foundation.
Graduate Students
Rebecca Deffler, OD (OD ’17, MS ’19, PhD expected ’24): Rebecca graduated from Gettysburg College in 2013 and received her OD from the New England College of Optometry in 2017. Her current position is as an Advanced Practice Fellow in Low Vision Rehabilitation at OSU.
Research Staff
San-San Cooley, OD, MS: San-San is a clinical associate professor at The Ohio State University, College of Optometry. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Minnesota and obtained her Doctorate of Optometry, graduating magna cum laude from OSU College of Optometry. She completed an ocular disease residency at the Cincinnati Eye Institute and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She also enjoys seeing patients at Eye Care Professionals, her private practice in Powell, Ohio.
