The Health Sciences Scholars program has helped me confirm that my dream career is in healthcare. Throughout my first semester I have learned more about my majors, Environmental Public Health and Microbiology, and I am excited to become involved in these areas of study. I have learned that Ohio State has on campus resources for anything I could come across in my next four years here. I know that I can reach out to staff member for assistance in areas including health and wellness, academics, research and social organizations. I have also really enjoyed learning from upperclassman regarding involvement in research, study abroad, clubs, and academics. This program also gave me the push to attend faculty office hours. I will continue to visit my professors during their office hours because I learned that faculty give great advice on strategies to succeed in their class. Through the classes I have taken thus far I gained a better understanding of the fields I wish to study before I enter a career in healthcare.
While I am on campus chasing my dream career, I will have to focus on staying healthy and finding the right balance between academic and extracurricular commitments. I plan to stay happy and healthy by relieving stress through continuing to play cello, run, and spend time with friends. I am particularly excited to participate in group classes in the RPAC and meeting more students through various social clubs on campus. Over my next four years at Ohio State and beyond, I would like to grow as a person by trying more new things. Whether it is a new study spot, place to eat, or adventure to go on, I feel I would benefit from the new experiences and meet new people doing so.
