It is estimated that “37 billion pounds of bananas are shipped globally each year.”10 Dole foods travel across oceans just to reach the stores in which they will finally be sold to the consumer. According to Forbes, Dole amasses 4.8 billion dollars in revenue each year (16). Large grocery store companies receive shipments from Dole and distribute them to their locations in the area. The product is then priced, depending on factories like availability and demand, and put on the shelves for sale.
