Adding a graduate clinical specialty to Post-Masters DNP enrollment

Students currently enrolled in the post-master’s DNP program who would like to add an available graduate clinical specialization must follow the process outlined below, which is dependent upon their status as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN):

  • Post-masters DNP students who are not APRN certified will need to complete the post-masters DNP program in the Nurse Executive track first. After their DNP degree is awarded, they can apply for the Traditional Masters program option (as an intra-university transfer applicant).
  • Post-Masters DNP students who are already APRN certified and decide they would like to pursue an additional specialty once they have begun the DNP coursework will follow the following process:
  • Students will apply for the next open application window for the Post-Masters study option. They must select their desired specialty option at the time of application.
  • All required application materials (as listed on the admission webpage) must be submitted by the application deadline. Admission decisions for these students will follow the standard timeline for all applicants, as referenced on the admissions webpage.
  • If the student is admitted to the Post-Masters study option and accepts that offer of admission, they will have a GAP analysis completed by Specialty Track Director (SPD) and approved by Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Educational Innovation and the Assistant Dean for Graduate Clinical Programs.
  • Courses for the Post-Masters study option will be added to the student’s curriculum plan by the Graduate Program Manager once the GAP analysis is finalized.
