Most of the time, DNE students will be placed in an immersion setting at their place of employment during one or more semesters or sessions of the immersion experiences in the capstone courses (DNE 8998.01 and DNE 8998.02). DNE students are responsible for identifying potential clinical sites and then discuss and seek approval from their advisor. Other times, students may need assistance in finding a suitable immersion site and should speak with their advisor and DNE Director for available options at the OSU CON and the OSU Health System. If the selected site is approved, the Clinical Placement Office will work to secure necessary clinical contracts for these sites. Please note that it may take 4-6 weeks (sometimes longer) to secure a clinical contract.
Students are expected to attend the immersion placement as assigned, and during the hours that the is available. The immersion experience is an essential part of the curriculum and completion of the final doctoral project and should be prioritized as such when balancing out other responsibilities in the life of the student. Students who choose not to attend an assigned immersion site will not be provided with a different immersion placement option by the Clinical Placement Office. If a student does not meet the immersion requirement of the course, it will result in a failing grade.
