IT Resources

Graduate education at the Ohio State University utilizes both on campus and online coursework.  In the College of Nursing we also have specific technologies used in the clinical setting which requires the use of a smart phone or mobile device.

Our online Learning Management System (LMS) is called Carmen and can be accessed at carmen.osu.edu. If you have any questions about using Carmen, please refer to the Carmen Resource Center.

If you participate in any online courses, you may also utilize Zoom (aka CarmenZoom) for video conferencing. Resources for Zoom can be found on the ODEE CarmenZoom Resource Center.

An additional technology that may be utilized is Voice Thread.  Watch an overview video here.

Students are expected to have a computer meeting minimum technology requirements in order to participate classes. You will find the technology requirements linked below in the nursing student technology services site.

Finally, the university will routinely send official communications to the university email address.

OSU’s name.#@osu.edu email address is the primary mechanism for sending official communications to students at OSU. Students must check email regularly to read important messages and notifications. Certain communications may be time sensitive. Failure to read official university communications sent to the students’ official OSU email addresses does not absolve students from knowing and complying with the content of those official communications.

Depending on a student’s role at the university, they may have their name.#@osu.edu email delivered to their university mailbox, their OSUWMC mailbox, or their BuckeyeMail mailbox. This can change as you gain and leave employment with the university. Students can check to where their name.#@osu.edu email is being delivered at https://my.osu.edu

The university is not responsible for any difficulties that may occur in the proper or timely transmission or access of email. Such problems will not absolve students of their responsibility to know and comply with the content of official communications sent to students’ official Ohio State University email addresses.

More information regarding OSU email can be found here. Questions about University email and BuckeyeMail email should be directed to the OTDI help desk at 614-688-HELP. Questions about OSUWMC email should be directed to the OSUWMC help desk at 614-293-HELP.

Other questions regarding technology at the College of Nursing can be sent to our Information Technology team at Con-S-Help@osu.edu.

Other helpful tips regarding OSU email:

  • If you are ONLY a student, your @osu.edu email is automatically delivered to your BuckeyeMail account.
  • If you are an employee, your OSU and BuckeyeMail accounts are separate and they need to be checked as such.
  • If you are a Med Center employee, you have three separate accounts. But you are allowed to forward @osu.edu to your Med Center account. This is the only forwarding OTDI allows for @osu.edu email when the person in question is an employee.
