Get Engaged…with your child’s school!

Do you feel engaged with your child’s school?

If your answer is no, then you are not alone!  Family engagement is more than family nights and bake sales yet most schools and parents have a difficult time defining how they should be engaged with one another.  Studies show that when families and schools work in partnership, kids do better.
The Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Council was created to give all children, all families and all schools the best resources available for the best chance for success!

Every parent has struggled with the dilemma… “do I send them or not”?
Get to know your school’s sick child policies and never wonder again!

You know the scenario, your child wakes up and complains that they are not feeling well. You are then faced with the question, do I keep them home from school or send them? It is a question that we have all experienced as a parent. Dr. Jennifer Hilgeman, M.D., pediatrician at Dayton Children’s Pediatrics at Dayton Children’s Hospital, suggests some tips on when to consider keeping your child home. There are several things to check including do they have a fever, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting or an earache. You can also trust your instincts by determining if they are not acting like they normally would. Are they sluggish? Are they coughing? Hopefully, you and your children have a happy and healthy cold and flu season!
