My name is Emma and I am from Bellbrook, a small town south-east of Dayton, Ohio. I am a first year student at the Ohio State University majoring in moving image production. I also value environmental care and dogs. Throughout college, I want to strive to go above and beyond to attain my degree so I can do what I love for a career later in life. I am also a member of the marching band here at Ohio State.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. G.O.A.L.S.

Global awareness is an aspect of my life that I would like to expand with new experiences in college. One experience I would love to take part in is studying abroad. I believe it could really enlighten my view of the world, considering I have never traveled outside of the country.

Original inquiry is something I have trouble finding time to execute. Occasionally, I do find time to attend screenings of films at the Wexner Center or time to watch a friend’s performance in a musical.

Academics are what life at a university is all about. Throughout high school, I was a hard-working student who cared deeply about my academic success. I have no plans to change that here at Ohio State. Performing my best in school and also being a part of the marching band is a challenge, but not an unconquerable one.

Leadership is a characteristic I value in life. Even as a freshman, I believe that as I continue being here at Ohio State and as I continue to experience this scholars group this year, my leadership skills will develop.

Service for the community has always been an important concept to me. There are so many oppurtunities here at Ohio State to do something good for the community, some simple and some more complex. I plan to incorporate these into my life.

Artifacts

[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements. For each entry, include both an artifact and a detailed annotation.  An annotation includes both a description of the artifact and a reflection on why it is important to you, what you learned, and what it means for your next steps.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen.
