Concept Ideation

Concept Ideation Reflection

When we got to the topic of concept ideation, we honestly had no idea on what ideas we should continue to pursue. Using the “77 cards” we able to think through our ideas and create 15 additional iterations which are drawn below. The iterations focus on ideas such as shape, grip, size, and weight by chagning things such as materials, joints, and part counts. Most of our pill consumption solutions lean toward a more integrated architecture because having a lighter weight and smaller product is a need of our end user. A challange of the project was trying to find the right amount of collaboration for our group. We wanted to help each other but we also wanted to give each of us the opportunity to get very creative and not have our ideas shot down so fast. Once we had our 15 ideas to work with, our team narrowed it down to 5 ideas to create more detailed drawings. We wanted to pick a mix of ideas that seemed realistically feasible and some ideas more on the creative side. We chose the follow 5 ideas: Pill Dispenser, Rubix Cube, Pill Bottle Nest, Pill Clock with App/ User Community, and Slide Cap. Deatiled drawnigs for each of the 5 designs can be found at the bottom of this. At this moment (11/20/19) we feel that the Pill Dispenser and the Rubix Cube are the two ideas that have the most protentional to prototype in the end with one being rather practical and one being creative. One of the nice parts of about this being a semester long project is that we have time as a group to sit on each of these ideas and think individually and then collaborate as a team on how we feel about each of the ideas. This will allow us to make a lot less of a rushed decision when it comes time to select the final idea that we chose to prototype.
