About Me

Hi!  My name is Madolyn Desch, and I am currently a first-year Honors student at The Ohio State University, studying International Business at the Fisher College of Business dsc_0296with minors in Fashion & Retail Studies and Real Estate.  Growing up in a Buckeye-loving family, it was always in the back of my mind that I would find my way to the city of Columbus and to OSU, and I am so happy that I did!

Throughout my entire childhood in Cincinnati, Ohio, I was always passionate about fashion and business.  The entrepreneurship spirit of my father rubbed off on me, and I was constantly coming up with different schemes and business ideas that an eight year old could do; I had a dog sitting business, a flower watering service, and a plethora of babysitting clients.  I also always was interested in fashion and clothes from a young age; this was fostered especially during my time at Ursuline Academy in Cincinnati where I ran the costume crew of the preforming art’s department for three years.  When it came time to decide what I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life, I knew that I wanted to incorporate both my loves of fashion and business.  Over the years, I have had multiple experiences with traveling and traveling abroad.  These have been some of my favorite moments, and I also know that I want to continue to have these experiences in college by studying abroad.  My love of travel contributed to my decision to major in international business.  After college, I intend to pursue a career in either Fashion Merchandising or Buying in a global company that allows me to travel.

Here at Ohio State, I have enjoyed getting involved in a plethora of clubs and organizations during my first semester.  These have included Recipe4Good and Fashion Forward.  Recipe4Good is a service, cooking club that aims to serve the members, Ohio State community, and Columbus community as a whole through food.  The club volunteers at places such as Ronald McDonald House and the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, plans various activities for members, such as going to the North Market and cooking dinner as a group.  Fashion Forward is a Fisher Student Organization for Business students with an interest in fashion.  The club consists of hearing guest speakers from different retail companies discuss job opportunities and internships, watching clips of fashion shows, and participating in activities that can be expected of a buyer or merchandiser.  Throughout the rest of my time at OSU, I hope to continue to be involved in these organizations and be more involved within the University.
