Professional Experience

Emily Delis – Resume-2fm6psw

As a business student at the Fisher College of Business, it is essential to gain real world experience through job opportunities, organizations on or off campus, and internships throughout your time at Ohio State in order to enhance one’s personal and professional growth. I feel as though I embody what it means to be a  driven business student not only through my academics, but my experiences outside of the classroom.

Most notably, the summer after my freshman year I had the opportunity to intern with The NRP Group LLC in downtown Cleveland as their Human Resources intern. This experience was incredible. I gained so much knowledge, expanded my professional network, and found my love within the world that is HR! I was able to see first hand how vital HR is to the success of a company through various meetings, projects, and seminars. Some of the main projects I completed during my internship that I am most proud of include: working with the national safety team to create the Emergency Action Plan for their new Cleveland location, training 150+ employees, and updating HRP’s within their CMS and LMS. In addition, I found that within Human Resources, my passion for working with people connected the most in Recruiting and Learning & Development. Finally, last summer I realized that working for a company whose mission and values that align with something you believe in is truly what matters most. NRP’s culture and mission is something I connected with and felt that even as an intern I was contributing. In my future endeavors, I believe it is extremely important to work for a company where you feel valued and needed.

In addition to internship experience, I started a new job this semester within the HR department of Traditions at Scott as an Office Assistant. I am learning valuable people skills and other HR techniques in order to grow professionally. Fortunately, I am confident that Human Resources is the perfect environment for me and my strengths are utilized to the fullest. I am a very personable individual and thrive from the energy of others. As of now, the department of Recruiting is the most interesting to me. The concept of finding the best talent for a company is exciting. After all, the greatest assets a company has are their employees.

Overall, as one can see from my resume, I reflect a well rounded student that is dedicated to growth throughout my years at Ohio State. It is very important for me to gain the most knowledge while I am here in order to handle whatever the professional business world throw my way.

Artifact 2

When thinking about another “Artifact” that represents me, I thought about my academic and personal achievement in high school. At the end of my senior year, I had the honor of being recognized as an “Outstanding Greenman”. My high school’s mascot is “the greenmen”, and a few years ago the school decided to recognize twelve graduating seniors with “The Outstanding Greenmen Award”. This award is solely based off of academic achievements, involvement, dedication to serving others, and overall character. This award is one of the greatest honors a student at Aurora High School is able to work toward within their four years. Every year, the school district votes on who they believe is deserving of recognition for their overall character. There are several rounds of voting and input put into the final twelve students that are chosen. Each student is ranked in various categories and the process spans over a few months. I remember being called into the principal’s office for the first time. I was terrified that I was in trouble. However, I unexpectedly entered a room with eleven of my peers. Once we were informed of our achievement, we were all humbled and honored. Yet, little did we know how special this ceremony would be. Each student was required to choose any educator or faculty member (Kindergarten-12th Grade) who made a lasting impact on their lives or academic career throughout the Aurora City School system. I chose to honor my AP Economics teacher, Mrs. Jenna Schadle, who never failed to put her students first. At the ceremony, we prepared a short speech explaining why we chose each teacher, therefore, this award was also for twelve outstanding faculty members. In addition, each student was recognized on a deep and individualized level. It was amazing to hear everyone’s story and appreciate the hard work of my peers. This evening was unforgettable and I am still humbled that teachers noticed my hard work over the years and that I was chosen out of 250 students. Overall, this award is something I will forever be proud of and one of my biggest accomplishments. I am so thankful for a supportive family, friends, and a great school system that put me on the best possible path for success.

G.O.A.L.S.

Ohio State is full of opportunities. A goal of mine from the beginning was to get as much out of this university as possible and I feel as though I have taken advantage of these opportunities to their full potential. As far as Global Awareness, I have had the pleasure to meet several students from various backgrounds. I am also a part of Sigma Epsilon Phi – a greek orthodox “fratority” on campus that allows Greek Orthodox students at OSU to gain a sense of community while explore their Greek heritage. Along with this, I have achieved Original Inquiry within my scholars program. In February of 2018, I led a service project with Fatih Missions Homeless Shelter and was able to create a personalized event for the men of the shelter. We had a Super Bowl party and a sock drive as well. It was amazing to see all of my teams ideas come to life with the help of my leadership. In addition, I have been able to further my academic enrichment beyond the classroom through my extracurriculars and even internship opportunities. This past summer I worked for an amazing company, The NRP Group LLC, in downtown Cleveland. I enhanced my skills from the classroom and applied them to real world experience in the field of Human Resources. With Mount Leadership Society Scholars I have been able to enhance my Leadership Development in so many ways. I have led various groups on projects including “Leadersagna”, Faith Missions, and more! I consider myself a great leader, however this program has helped foster even more leadership skills than before! Lastly, I consider myself to be heavily involved in service at OSU. This year I am working toward a 50 hour goal! So far, I am working at the Clintonville Resource Center’s Food Pantry and plan to work with RISE Boys and Girls Club in the future. My other extracurriculars also provide several outlets for service such as Off The Lake Productions (non-profit theatre organization that donates all proceeds to charity) and Sigma Epsilon Phi (works with Orthodox Christian Mission Center). Overall, I am very fortunate with all that I have done here at OSU and I am eager to expand my experiences!

Artifact 1

Home: a place where you feel safe, secure, and supported. When someone says “home”, I think of the chapel at Camp Nazareth. Camp Nazareth is an Orthodox camp ground located in Mercer, PA and is also the place where I spent the majority of my summer, fall, and spring breaks. This place has taught me the importance of a firm foundation in my faith and my relationship with God. This is the place where I met some of the most amazing people that continue to inspire me daily, and I know will support me throughout my life. This is the place where my heart is the fullest and I exude genuine happiness. When I walk inside this chapel, I am reminded of all of the amazing blessings God has given me. This chapel serves as a reminder of all of the experiences that have made me into the woman I am today. Camp Nazareth and the Orthodox faith have shown me the power of God’s love, the importance of service to others, and the significance of showing love to others. I cannot thank this camp enough for the incredible experiences it has afforded me, as a camper, over the last 10 years. Looking ahead, I am fortunate enough to be able to share my experiences as a counselor and mentor for those younger than me. My goal is to make them fall in love with this chapel and this faith as much as I have. Whenever I am overwhelmed or stressed, I always take a second to close my eyes and think of this beautiful chapel that I call home.
