Technical Specifications

Below are the hardware, software, and skills necessary for you to instruct online courses at Ohio State University. Additional resources are available through Ohio State for any number of these sections.

Baseline technical skills necessary for online courses

  • Basic computer and web-browsing skills
  • Familiarity with computer-based presentation tools
  • Navigating Carmen

Technology skills necessary for this specific course

  • Carmen Zoom text, audio, and video chat
  • Recording a slide presentation with audio narration
  • Recording, editing, and uploading video
  • Basic Carmen Canvas knowledge

Necessary equipment

  • Computer: current Mac (OS X) or PC (Windows 10+) with high-speed internet connection
  • Webcam: built-in or external webcam, fully installed
  • Microphone: built-in laptop mic or external microphone
