Shooting Sports Camp Scholarship

New 4-H Shooting Sports Camp Scholarship:

4-H Members  are invited to apply for a scholarship (partial) to attend an Ohio 4-H Shooting Sports Camp.  There is a Junior and Senior camp.  Dates are listed below.  Click the link to complete application online.  These funds are made available through funds generated from the NRA calendar sales conducted by John McCalla.

Ohio State Fair Swine Entry Requirement

  • For information on the Youth Crossbred Show, please refer to Open Swine Division 1614. It may be necessary to test swine for sulfa and the Ohio State Fair reserves the right to do so.
  • ALL SWINE Exhibited at the Ohio State Fair require 840 USDA Tags- EID and none EID accepted. An 840 USDA Tag from the breeder your purchased your animal from is acceptable. An 840 USDA Tag from your farm is acceptable. The preferred ear is the right ear, however both ears will be accepted. It is against the law to remove an 840 USDA Tag from an animal, and an animal should only have one 840 USDA Tag.
  • If you do not have any 840 USDA Tags, please contact local veterinarian or contact Todd Price at North Central Veterinary Services 419-927-2568. When entering online this will be placed in the electronic ID field. Only USDA and County Fair Tags should be in the ears of your swine, all other ear tags must be removed prior to arrival. You need to have a Premise ID please contact Cindy Bodie at Ohio Department of Agriculture to get one, her email is cindy.bodie@agri.ohio.gov and fill out the following form and attach it. Premise Registration Form https://agri.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/oda/divisions/animal-health/animal+id/premise-registration-form- fillable Your Premise ID will be collected at the time of entry.
  • So please make sure that you apply in plenty of time to receive your Premise ID #.. All entries must be made online by June 21st at 1 pm. Breeding late entry is available after June 21 at 1p.m. for a $75 fee plus the initial entry fee. NO market late entry available. To make a late entry contact the Entry Department at 614-644-4052. You must enter online at www.ohiostatefair.com. Exhibitors should keep their exact login information (username/password).

Orders are due June 1, 2022.  (Delivery date: TBA  – around July 1-3)

  • It is too early to give pricing.  The amount will be based on total orders. 
  • These will be Cornish Chicks
  • MUST ORDER A LIMIT OF 6 BIRDS per Ohio Revised Code guidelines

 

POULTRY REGISTRTION

Effective 2022: ALL Poultry exhibitors must register their projects and submit the proper paperwork via the link provided.  May also get to link from our 4-H App.  Link  https://u.osu.edu/defiance4h/2022-poultry-registration/

Chickens:

  • Market Chickens: Exhibitor will receive a link to order their birds once 4-H enrollment is completed.  Exhibitor must order a minimum of 6 birds per type of bird. ORC 925.62
  • Pullets/Hens/Fancy: Must be in possession by April 30th and submit proof of purchase (photo of order receipt)  for new birds or an actual photo of birds over a year old.
