About Me

IMG_1440Hello, and thank you for visiting my blog! My name is Anna and I am from Cincinnati, Ohio. I am currently a first-year student at Ohio State, and am already so proud to call myself a Buckeye. I’m looking to major in Economics, with a possible minor in a dietetics-related field.

I am a very curious and ambitious learner both inside and outside of the classroom, often diving head-on into multiple different subjects and interests with each one being equally as engaging for me. One such interest is playing the piano-I started re-teaching myself at the age of seventeen after a six-year hiatus from the instrument, and ever since then, I find myself on that piano bench almost every single day, conquering a song note-by-note, practicing toward the ultimate goal of personal satisfaction. Another such interest of mine is fitness, which my mom-a part-time fitness instructor- inspired me to start looking into. I joined cross country my freshman year of high school, and ever since then, keeping track of my workout routine and nutrition has become an interesting hobby that I may want to eventually translate into a career.

Although I can find enjoyment in almost every subject in school, I find that the most engaging classes for me are language-focused; I’ve always loved English class, as well as French, where the feeling of becoming (very) steadily more fluent creates a proud, yet insatiable, feeling-there is always more to learn, which is intriguing to me. Because of my love for language, I started writing for the school newspaper, in which I became very involved as the Editor-in-Chief. It was always so satisfying to see my name in print, knowing that I could get my ideas, my opinions, and even my perspective on life into people’s minds just by a few inked words. I reached that same feeling of satisfaction when I would write and perform various rhetorical pieces for my mock trial team, where I played as both an attorney and witness. Mock trial was hours of preparation and work, but getting that one sentence right-where you just knew it would could win you the match-was what kept me going. Those sentences were made of carefully chosen words, strung together in a way that we knew would make an impact with the judges. I continually strive-through various means in my life-to make an impact; knowing that people hear what I’m saying, and knowing that my words can inspire thoughts and ideas in people, is what gives my life purpose. I cannot wait to continue making an impact at Ohio State University-and getting the chance to do it through the Politics, Society and Law Scholars Program is so exciting and promising.
