About Me

Michael Debevec

Michael Debevec is a first year student in the College of Engineering at Ohio State University. Michael plans to major in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Theatre specializing in production design. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors from Barberton High School in 2017. Michael participated in College Credit Plus at the University of Akron beginning in the spring of his sophomore year. In his senior year of high school he went to the University of Akron full-time and graduated high school with 41 college credits. Michael was a member of the Barberton High School Marching Band Drumline for five years and Section Leader his senior year. In high school he worked closely with his STEM teacher in his junior year to lay the foundation for the whole class. Michael built 3D Printers and tested new assignments to help build the class to what it currently is.  As Technical Director in his school’s theatre he ran the lighting for three musicals and on stage crew for one. He was also the lighting designer for six shows at Barberton Middle School. In his senior year he was the lighting designer for Grease the Musical at Barberton High School. Michael hopes to use his time at Ohio State to gain more knowledge and new contacts in both the fields of engineering and theatre.
