About Me

My name is Nick Dawson and I am a first-year student at The Ohio State University. I am from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL from a place called Bartlett. In high school, I was in several extracurricular activities. A huge part of my years in high school, other than the academics, were sports. My senior year I was captain of the football and wrestling team and made bonds with people that will last a lifetime. Time management, teamwork, and communication were also tremendous takeaways from participating in 2 varsity sports for 4 years. Also, at my high school I participated in a STEM education program with a focus on engineering. I was blessed with the opportunity to take technical and design classes many students never had the chance to take in high school; it’s a big reason I decided to go into engineering at OSU.

In my time at Ohio State I plan to receive a degree in Materials Science and Engineering and a possible MBA. I am interested in doing some work as a “normal”engineer, but eventually I want to work on the business side of engineering. That is why I hope to be able to get my MBA and possibly run my own engineering firm. I am extremely excited for my time at The Ohio State University and I cannot wait for the enriching experiences that are awaiting for me in the horizon.
