Year in Review

This year was all about extracurriculars. I started the year be trying out for a new dance team called buckeye fusion which was the reason I won my first trophy in college. Although I have competed in dance before, this was the first time that I was a part of such a big team and circuit.

Professionally, I worked to develop my relationships and get more involved with Fisher. I started by volunteering in the office of career management and getting more involved with events for the Information Systems Association (ISA). This landed me the position of ISA vice president for this upcoming school year. I also spent much of this year learning about professional development though the Deloitte Career Launch Program where we learned about company culture, networking and goal setting. We concluded this program by completing a case competition about how a company like Deloitte can best service, hire and retain talent from our generation (Gen Z).

I also spent a lot of my time this year applying for internships and different programs I was keen on pursuing. This year turned out to be the year of rejections as I went from interview to interview without getting many offers including losing out on fisher’s honors cohort. Although quite draining, I was able to push through and I will be working for Johnson & Johnson as part of my STEP project this coming summer and next year, I will get gain more real-world exposure by participating in the Industry Immersion Program. I hope by focusing on these opportunities that I did find, I can continue to learn and explore myself outside of the traditional campus leadership opportunities.

Artifacts

The day I got selected to be a part of OSU’s competition dance team, Inaayat, was really special because I was the only one who was lucky enough to be a part of the team without being trained in the teams danced style so it was a completely new experience for me. When we dance we tie bells on our feet and those are really special to me because they add so much energy to the performance. As dancers,, we are taught to respect the bells that we tie on our feet because they produce music with every step that we take. On the classical team here at OSU we can’t afford to perform everywhere with a full live orchestra, so the only thing that produces a completely natural sound on stage are our bells which really enhance our performances and makes good choreography look and should great.

About Me

portfolio

I am a first-year from Mason, OH, majoring in Management Information Systems through Fisher. In high school, I played for the varsity golf team and competed nationally as an Indian classical dancer. I hope to participate in extracurricular activities during my time in college in order to continue pursuing my passion in both these areas. At Ohio State, I have joined the Business Scholars program and will be a university honors student starting her sophomore year. Outside of academics, I have played an active role in building up OSU’s premier Indian classical competition dance team, Inaayat. I hope to combine what I learn about business processes and leadership in class with extracurricular experiences in order to explore future career paths in the Business and IT world..
