Wexner Art Center

The Wexner Art Center is a very important place to me. I’ve chosen it was an artifact because of my love of art, I love everything about art to the way it makes me feel to the way it brings people together. I discover it earlier this year from an art history teacher who instructed us to go write about one piece of art that was currently exhibiting. It is one of the greatest hidden gems I’ve found on campus. It’s free to students and you are able to just wander in and view the exhibits for a little bit. I always find myself wandering in there after a stressful class or exam it instantly calms me, and I just focus on the beauty and details of the brush strokes. It teaches me about artistic and creative side of me that isn’t able to be discovered everyday in my major. This artistic expression has allowed not only an outlet to de-stress but it lets me engage in the visual and creative learner inside me.

The Wall Street Journal

The artifact I’ve chosen is The Wall Street Journal. This newspaper has taught me so much, it’s taught be about different perspectives and views. It’s acknowledged hot topics without pushing buttons. I’ve read the online version almost everyday in between classes and meetings it’s how I stay informed in this bubble on campus where the outside world seems to be on pause. This is representative of the education I have learned outside of OSU. Ever since I took an International Business class at Fisher my professor stressed the importance of reading the newspaper of understanding the world and the industry you want to go into it. He stressed that reading up and gaining knowledge can only help you with the work that is ahead of you. I also use this as a resource so whenever I’m confused about a topic or term I always search for it on the Wall Street Journal website and see what articles they have on the topic.  The Wall Street Journal is an essential part of my education from my dad and I exchanging articles through email or discussing the latest spike in the price of oil. I have learned how to distinguish good writing from great writing and what constitutes opinion from fact. This newspaper is important to me for deciphering the world around me.
