“Week 8: Collage Part 1”

I attempted to make a time travel theme. I incorporated “time” pictures to represent life. I also had a lot of holidays since it’s more of memories that’s been in my life. So there’s turkey to represent Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations.

  1. Interesting collage Cynthia! And I am glad you interpreted the assignment in a way that is meaningful for you. I am curious about the choice to rip some of the images rather than to cut them out precisely because while the different floating images evoke the swirling thoughts of the dream / time travel, I think you can integrate the images you chose a bit more. I think it would make an even stronger message or make the viewer access your story in a different way. Consider this image by Romare Bearden that we looked at in the lecture ( https://d32dm0rphc51dk.cloudfront.net/51Oi8UiogQgjmLVjLt7lrA/large.jpg ) and how while there are many disjointed things happening in the same scene, they are integrated into one space. It might be a matter of finding out what is the background of your collage and fitting these images into it. I am interested to see how this idea could be translated into your drawing copy!
