One little gem that the new Carmen has tucked away is the Dashboard page. The Dashboard is a customizable space that gives you an at-a-glance view of what’s going on in all of your courses, as well as what you need to do next. The Dashboard can be accessed from the menu at the left of the page. By default, all of your active courses would show up on the Dashboard. You can use the Courses page to add any additional courses you want to see.
Here are just some of the things that you can do on the Dashboard page:
- Color-code and nickname your courses. Nicknaming is useful if your course names are too long. For example, you can search for your courses in the Inbox messaging tool with their nicknames.
- Quickly see recent activities in your courses
- Quickly see what needs to be done still, and what events or due dates are coming up
- Check out any feedback that your instructors have left on your submissions
The Dashboard also works nicely in conjunction with the new Carmen homepage (also called the Smart Landing Page), which lets you sort, filter and search all of your courses.
