South Florida Veterinary Surgery in Miami and Stuart, Florida

We are excited to share Taylor Thompson’s experience below, funded by Charlie’s Angels fund.

My experience during my rotation in Florida was enriching. I traveled to four different veterinary locations, including Fort Lauderdale, Stuart, Miami, and Palm Beach, and I had the opportunity to interact with large numbers of clients and staff. Everyone I came into contact with belonged to a different background and ethnicity, and I was able to get a glimpse of what life is like for them. Although there was a language barrier for some of the individuals I was interacting with, I was able to adapt and figure out a way to communicate with them. During this rotation, I learned how to overcome the obstacle of interacting with people of different ethnicities who do not speak English. I focused on my learning in veterinary medicine and minor animal surgery, and I could even partake in a few surgeries and procedures that I had never seen. I was able to work with a few different surgeons who all took an extensive amount of time explaining procedures to me and quizzing me on my knowledge. This rotation put me much further ahead, and I am very grateful for the scholarship I received to help make the experience possible. And I would like to thank all contributors. I was able to use the money awarded to me for travel, food, board, and gas.
