Mongolia Experience 2022

We are excited to share below Ms. Taylor J. Williams’s international experience, funded by Dr. Thomas Mack.

“While in Mongolia, I spent much of my time training veterinary interns in various large animal clinical techniques, including physical exam, palpation, and lameness evaluation. I also gave a couple lectures to the interns, including the public health implications of Brucellosis and diagnostic testing for urinary disease. During about half of the time, I was with the interns exploring rural Mongolia. We visited several dairy farms, during these visits we vaccinated and dehorned calves, analyzed milking machines, and practiced palpating.

The remainder of the time was spent at the host organization’s small animal clinic in Ulaanbaatar. At the clinic, I assisted with spays and neuters, monitored patients under anesthesia, and placed IV catheters. Amazingly, this clinic is currently the only veterinary clinic in Mongolia that has the ability to perform radiology and use isoflurane for general anesthesia.”
