Global Awareness:

I relate to this section of GOALS well because I have been over seas twice: Italy and London. I was able to appreciate the cultural and personal differences between Europe and United States while I was there. I grew to appreciate the diversity of London because it was one of the most diverse cities in the world and we ate different foods from different cultures like Mexican and Indian.

Original Inquiry:

I have not made a lot of contributions to this section of GOALS. The only contribution I have made is through helping someone else’s research as part of an assignment in Psychology and Communication classes.

Academic Enrichment:

I chose to major in Business because it is one of the harder majors at Ohio state and because you need to be personal and friendly to succeed in a real business environment. One of my favorite GE’s I have taken is History of Rock n’ Roll. I am very passionate about music, especially rock and learning about the history of it was very interesting. I thought I knew a lot prior to the course, but I was wrong and I started listening to many different bands after and during the class.

Leadership Development:

Mount Leadership Society is a great example of me being taught about leadership principles. We have many presentations given to us over these last two years about many different topics that give us different perspectives an important issues in today’s society. I have used these skills in my classes, namely in group projects to set our group in a direction and work fast and efficient even though I may not be the smartest person in the group.

Service Engagement:

I completed about 80 hours of service at my High School. Most of it was at a food pantry and helping serve at a fish fry for my local church. I did monthly volunteer projects for Mount last year and this year I am doing Year of Service at Broad Street Afterschool, which involves tutoring and mentoring less privilege kids ages 5-13. At first, I thought it would be a burden, but I actually do not mind volunteering there and helping kids.

Artifact 1

In the summer between my Junior and Senior of High School I went on a school trip to Italy as part of my Latin class. Some of my best friends went there along with me and we were there for about a week. During that time we visited many cathedrals, viewed famous paintings and sculptures, tried Italian foods such as gelato and pizza in the cities of Rome and Florence. During this time I realized how lucky and fortunate I was considering most people do not ever get to leave their country as a tourist let alone at the age of sixteen and the trip basically being free, since my parents paid for it. I also realized how fortunate I was since there were a lot of beggars on the streets filled with sob stories and no one seemed to care. This could be a symptom of being in a big city, but it was still sad. Another thing that made me realize how lucky is that immigrants flooded the city and the only they can make money and provide for their families is by scamming tourists like us.

About Me
