Dane is a fourth year PhD student in the Cognitive Systems Engineering Laboratory studying under Dr. Mike Rayo. In addition to the BS and MS he holds from the Department of Integrated Systems Engineering, Dane also has a Major in Theatre and a Minor in Music. His continued research has focused on two primary areas: (1) design strategies that facilitate resilient human-machine performance, especially when working with AI/ML algorithms, and (2) evaluation strategies that facilitate anticipation of system performance outside the range of what was explicitly tested. His experience designing and/or evaluating joint human-machine systems includes decision support tools in healthcare, intelligence analysis, and several projects to aid the ongoing COVID-19 response in Ohio.
