Sidewalks:

Looking around on the whole path a majority of the sidewalks seem to be in fairly good condition. Especially the more North Campus around Knowlton the sidewalks seem to be holding up well, but the further south campus I went I did notice a deterioration in the sidewalks on 12th by the hospital to back into campus area. They all seemed fairly good as in size except the deteriorated spots I mentioned; I did however find that the sidewalks were both narrow and bad on cannon dr. Along with on high st. there were a sufficient amount of bumps all around and divest that don’t make it ideal for disabled people or skateboarder/rollerbladers/scooters. Regular check ups and patch work would be a good way to keep the sidewalks in better shape.

Street Width:

For the most part of the trip I feel like the street width was pretty accurate in what it should be for the traffic that comes through. If there was one place where I thought it could’ve been better was around the shoe, this being because there buses that go around both sides and take up pretty much the whole lane and drift into the other. I think in that case there needs to be another lane added rather than it just being widened just because of OSU football traffic. Definitely the street width determines traffic flow because a narrower street will be more bottlenecked and therefore become more congested especially with no room to either go around or park on the side of the road (as with Uber and Lyft). Again for the most part I feel the streets were a good width for the traffic through there except around the shoe where it should be doubled.

Street Safety:

I would say that street safety is pretty good on OSU campus all around except for high st. Pretty much throughout the paths there were cross walks and light where it’ll say when we can cross. I do think it’s a little sketchy and narrow around the shoe because of the narrow roads, it makes the cars seem much closer to you for sure. As with high st., I’ve seen someone get almost run over multiple times including myself, so I think there needs to be a better and more full proof way to alert drivers when a pedestrian is crossing.

Traffic Flow:

The traffic flow seemed also fairly good around all areas except the west side of the shoe because of the curves of the road I believe it gives people a challenge to race around them as fast as possible. Overall there were mostly two ways streets and usually one lane per way. For the area I feel it is definitely appropriate especially for new timers to the university, where a lot of one ways can be frustrating and possibly cause law breakage because of frustration.

Setbacks:

For the most part I would say all of the buildings on the path around campus were of similar setbacks except for the shoe being more setback because of surrounding parking. They seem appropriate for the area because of greater sidewalk space and greater room for possible roadway expansion.

Building Use:

I believe all buildings were in good usage, but some contained different designs. For example the Knowlton school I feel matches the shoe, RPAC, and next door parking garage. But I do not feel like it connects with the hospital or south campus majority.

Parking:

There seemed to be sufficient parking in various areas (around the shoe, next to Knowlton, two by the hospital, next to the Union, another on 18th). I would say another garage or space should be put between the Union and the hospital for students and or visitors. One thing I would change about parking is the way it’s dealt with by the university. I feel it should be a flat rate that is included in tuition with a first come first serve basis.

Accessibility:

The accessibility of the area seems to be pretty well thought out. I felt there were definitely sufficient on and off curb ramps located all around campus. I was actually scootering around the path so I was able to get a good feel for the amount of rampage in the areas. The sidewalks were beat up in various areas as I mentioned before which made it difficult to roll some times.

Green Space:

During the time around campus I actually felt as there were very good amounts of green space usage. As there were tabled areas and the whole Oval along with the little Oval by the union that contained lots of green space. Compared to the amount of buildings around it was smaller but most buildings actually contained green areas of their own where students could sit and study or relax.
