Ohio State Acceptance

My acceptance into Ohio State was one my happiest moments. It proved to me that hard work truly pays off. I was always the kid in my friend group that would stay in on some weekend nights to study after being heckled for hours by friends begging me to come out. I had one goal set in my mind and that was to get into Ohio State. From hard work I was able to get good grades in high school, but when I took the ACT for the first time it was really disheartening. The score I received was nowhere near the score that is needed to get into the school. Even though it scared me I did not let it phase me. For the next 6 months I dedicated myself to improving my weaknesses and improving my techniques in order to get the score I wanted. It has always been a life long dream of mine to go to this school and looking back and seeing all the work I did to get to this point is really refreshing. This event showed me that you can do anything you set your mind to. How you achieve goals is by zeroing in on one point and not letting anything that may hit you to make you lose your focus. With relentless drive it is crazy what someone can accomplishment. If you want something bad enough you will do what it takes in order to meet that objective. Do not give up. Do not give up.

Artifacts

Over my first few months here ate Ohio State the one thing that has really impacted is being in Mount Leadership. I know this might sound cliché, but Mount has really put me around people that have pushed me to excel. Everyone in the organization is goal oriented and has their priorities straight. Of course, academic always comes first, but I have found many people who share same interests even outside the classroom. Mount has allowed me to find a close friend and caused the transition from high school to college be 10x easier. When coming into college I always thought I would be home sick and dying to see my parents and pets, but I have loved every second being here because I have a sense of friendship, fun, and strong academics. Mount is truly a family.

About Me

Hi!

My name is Alex Crecelius, I am from a suburb in the Cincinnati, Ohio area called Mason. I come from a family where competition thrives, where strong work ethic is demanded, where love and care flourishes, and where Ohio State football goes crazy. Ever since I was a kid, I always dreamed about being a student at The Ohio State University and with principles I learned from home, I have been blessed with the opportunity to be a student at OSU this fall. I will be studying Chemical Engineering.

What brought me to Ohio State, was the endless opportunities, clubs, sports, and activities that this school offers. On top of studying Engineering I am so excited to be apart of the Mount Leadership program here at the university. This program will help me learn ad improve my leadership skills in order to take on future opportunities that I will have after college. But not only does this program help build into me, it is also very passionate in community service, which for me, is special. Being able to give back to the Columbus community is a great way to get involved as well as better other individuals lives. Other than Mount Leadership I am also interested in joining other clubs here at OSU such as OUAB, a club that allows college students to plan big events that go on throughout campus.

Throughout my life I have always been the type of person to “seize the moment” and with endless opportunities here at Ohio State I can not wait to pursue all these endeavors, challenges, and victories. OH and Go bucks!
