Exploring Columbus Part 2
In order to further explore Columbus, I continued with the topic of Coffee and Tea Shops. This time, I visited a couple shops when my parents were in town. My dad loves coffee and mom loves tea, so I knew they would enjoy exploring with me. First, we visited Stauf’s Coffee in Grandview Heights. We stopped there before going to the state cross country meet, so we were excited to eat somewhere warm before venturing into the cold. It was very busy when we came, so there were people everywhere and we could not find a seat, so we had to stand. The atmosphere was very nice though!
I was looking to order a matcha latte, but they were all out of matcha, so I ordered a chai latte and oatmeal with a muffin to eat. My dad ordered a very strong coffee with a breakfast wrap and my mom ordered a chai latte as well with an egg scramble.
Overall, I would say my food was fine. I thought the coffee and chai were too strong for me, but my parents loved it. I enjoyed the muffin and oatmeal, but I wasn’t blown away. I liked the atmosphere and would like to come back again when it isn’t as busy and try some more food. I just feel like I had an unlucky experience and I would like to visit again before I truly judge the place and determine if I would recommend it.
After witnessing the boys XC team from my high school place fourth in the state, my parents and I got dinner, then went to Fox in the Snow Cafe for coffee and dessert. I really liked this place and I thought the layout was very cute and trendy. While here I ordered a latte and a doughnut. All of the pastries there were homemade, which I found super interesting.
I was pleased by the doughnut and latte. I am definitely not a coffee expert, so I can’t say if it was better than normal, but I enjoyed everything I ate. I would like to go back again in the future and try more of the pastries because they all looked very good. I would also recommend this place to others because I did enjoy my experience.
I really feel like I benefited from this project. I was able to explore more of Columbus and find a new place that I really enjoy. My favorite experience was visiting Zen Cha Tea Salon. Since writing my last post, I have visited it again and was blown away for a second time. I just love it so much and know that I will take make more trips there in the future. This experience also has made want to explore more in the different areas of Columbus, not just the Short North. I would recommend that everyone explore Columbus in a way similar to this. It is just a great way to get to know the city. I would recommend people try new things and go into everything open minded, hopefully resulting in them having a fun new experience.
